Jan is proud to have lived, worked, and worshipped in Fort Bend County since 2013.
A graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in English, with Honors, Jan served around the world both on active duty and in the reserves as a Public Affairs Officer in the U.S. Navy. She counts two tours of duty as most meaningful to her - a deployment on the ground in Afghanistan embedded with the Army, working in detention operations and the rule of law; and serving as a traveling instructor for the Navy Leadership and Ethics Center, a division of the Naval War College.
In 2014 Jan founded The Xena Project, a veteran-run organization headquartered in Fort Bend County that facilitates mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being for hundreds of military, law enforcement, first responders, and families each year. The Xena Project runs a charter in San Angelo, Texas and is opening programs in Brazoria County.
Jan has also worked in animal welfare, the criminal justice sector, and politics to advance conservative causes and advocate for personal freedom. She is considered a subject matter expert on rural area outreach and crisis intervention and has authored two books on the development of personal ministry. She currently lives on a ranch with her daughter, horses, Doberman, livestock, and one very dashing llama. Learn more at thexenaproject.org and beforeyounow.com.
